The Insurance Information Bureau (IIB) is a web portal created in 2009 by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) to facilitate the smooth operation of the Indian insurance market. All information related to insurance policies issued in the country is compiled and made available to policyholders on the platform.
The goal of creating this portal is to increase the overall transparency of the insurance industry. Follow the steps below for quick online insurance for bike status check on this portal:
- On the home page, go to the V-Seva tab under “Quick Links.”
- You will then be directed to the “Accident Vehicle Information Retrieval System” page.
- Fill in all the required information, including the owner’s name, phone number, email address, and bike registration number.
- Complete the captcha
- Click or tap the “Submit” button.

However, a few things to remember when using the IIB portal to check your bike insurance status online is that the web portal provides information on insurance policies for vehicles purchased after April 1, 2020. If you cannot verify the status of your online insurance for bike through the IIB portal, you can go to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways’ official website (VAHAN).
- Visit the VAHAN website to learn more.
- At the top, click on the “know your vehicle details” tab.
- Enter your mobile phone number and create an account.
- Enter the registration number and verification code for your bike.
- Tap or click the “search vehicle” button.
- The screen will display information about your bike insurance.
