If you are looking for Italian for beginners in London, Happy Languages offers different options to learn the language according to your preference.
Based in the City, Happy Languages was founded in 2013 with the aim of teaching Italian as a foreign language at any levels.
On top of the Italian group courses and one-to-one lessons, the school is also CILS exam centre since 2014 (CILS is the international certification of Italian as a foreign language released by the University for Foreigners of Siena), so it prepares students towards language exams.
Besides, in 2014 Happy Languages became DITALS exam centre, offering to Italian teachers the opportunity to sit the DITALS exam (DITALS is the international certification to teach Italian as a foreign language released by the University for Foreigners of Siena).
If you are about to start learning Italian or have just started, Happy Languages can help you moving forward, either if you prefer to join a course in the evening or at the weekend.
Beginner Evening Group Courses
The Beginner level is split into three courses that take place in the evening: Beginner 1, Beginner 2 and Beginner 3. Each course lasts for 10 weeks, 1 hour and a half per week, which is very convenient in terms of fitting the course into a tight schedule.
The Beginner 1 course is perfect for all those who have never studied Italian before and is focused on the basics, such as alphabet, numbers, the present tense of some important verbs, articles, nouns genre. During this course students learn how to introduce themselves, ask and give personal information and how to order food and drinks in a bar or restaurant. Also, they go through some simple phrases to ask the bill and make a reservation over the phone.
The Beginner 2 course is good for students who have studied Italian for 15 hours and are ready to move on. The grammar topics included are quite important: present tense of regular verbs, adverbs of frequency, agreement between noun and adjective are only some of the things to study. Students start expressing their preferences and talk about their tastes, try to book a room in a hotel asking all the information needed, practise how to ask and give direction in a city.
In the Beginner 3 course, which is thought for people who have studied for about 30 hours, students learn how to talk about the past and then focus on everything they need to do some grocery shopping in Italy. Passato prossimo, direct object pronouns and partitives are some essential grammar topics to face. Moreover, they approach the description of a typical day, which implies studying reflexive verbs.
Beginner 1 Crash Course
Every other month Happy Languages offers a Beginner 1 Crash Course taking place for 8 hours in total, 4 on Saturday and 4 on Sunday. This option is great if you want to save some time and speed up your learning process or if you just need to brush your foundations up, so you don’t mind doing a very intensive course.
During the 8 hours course you cover the same contents as the Beginner 1 Evening Course, however the practice is much shorter.
After this Crash Course students are ready to join the following level, Beginner 2, or to continue with one-to-one lessons if they like!
