They are also popular in many other parts of the world! For fishing enthusiasts, going fishing is best, but if you can’t, learning how to draw a perch can also be fun.

With these instructions, you can do it in no time!

How to Draw A Bass

Step 1

In this first step of our guide to drawing a bass, we’ll start with the outline of the fish. For the head, we’ll use a jagged curved line for the top.

So to the right of that line, we use a smooth curve of it for the primary gill of the bass.

Then you can draw another long curved line from the end of the head, and this line will form the fish’s body.

Then you can extend another string from the top of the body, forming the long fin on the back of the fish. That’s all this line offers, so let’s move on to step 2!

Step 2

In this second step, we’ll add an eye and gills to your bass design. First, use a small circle shape for the eye on the face and then add a black circle for the pupil.

You can also draw a line under the eye for some detail.

Then, using the line you drew for the gills in the last step, you can add more curved lines next to it for the rest of the details.

Step 3

In this third step of our tutorial on how to draw a bass, you’ll be adding a lot of detail, so let’s take it slow!

First, add some smaller lines near the gills to get more detail around them. Then you can add a fin to the last row of gills.

This will be a rounded shape with a jagged line on the edge. So we will add some lines in the fin.

Then you can extend another slightly jagged line backward from the line you drew on the back in the first step.

Then a few more lines will go into that fin for even more detail. That’s all we add in this step. So if you are happy with that, you are ready for step 4.

Step 4

Every bass would be complete with a mouthpiece, so we’ll design one for your bass design in this part. The mouth has some curved lines for the outline, with more curved lines for the inside of the mouth.

Then you can draw a few shorter lines from the mouth to the fish’s chest and draw another fin over that area. Because of the perspective, this fin appears slightly smaller than the other.

Step 5

Before you start coloring your drawing, you must make a few final touches in this step of our guide to drawing a bass.

First, we’ll add another small fin to the belly of the fish. Then some strongly curved lines extend back to the beginning of the tail and end with the tail.

So we finish this step by coloring the mouth and adding some small round shapes along the body for the final details.

These complete the details for this guide, but feel free to add a few! It might be fun to draw a background that shows some other fish swimming behind this one.

You might even draw your favorite fishing lure before the fish to show they’re about to bite.

Step 6

In this sixth and final step of your bass drawing, have lots of fun adding some fantastic colors to your drawing. Our reference image used more muted and realistic greens and browns to color the bass.

You can use this image as a guide if you want a similar look for your design. If you prefer, you can also use other colors you might love for a more stylish look!

So once you know what colors you want to use, you can decide what art media to use to bring the colors to life.

For images with water scenes, watercolors and colored pencils can be great for creating a softer look that suits the subject.

It would also be nice if you chose media that conveys lighter colors, so we can’t wait to see what you choose!
